How to Replace Brake Pads on a Honda Civic

In this tutorial, we'll go through the steps needed to replace the brake pads on a Honda Civic. This is a common issue that many Honda Civic owners may encounter.

Tools Needed:

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Jack Up Your Car

Using the jack that came with your car, lift the front side of the vehicle. Once it's lifted high enough, place the jack stands under the vehicle for added safety.

Step 2: Remove the Tire

Using your tire iron, remove the lug nuts holding the tire in place. Once they're removed, take off the tire.

Step 3: Remove the Brake Caliper

Use your wrench to remove the bolts that hold the brake caliper in place. After that, carefully slide the caliper off the brake disc.

Step 4: Remove Old Brake Pads

Once the caliper is off, you'll have access to the brake pads. Simply slide them out to remove them.

Step 5: Install the New Brake Pads

Slide the new brake pads into the same position the old brake pads were in.

Step 6: Reinstall the Caliper

Place the caliper back over the brake disc. You may need to use the C-clamp to push the piston back enough to fit it over the new brake pads. Then, screw the bolts back on with your wrench.

Step 7: Reinstall the Tire

Put the tire back onto the wheel studs and screw the lug nuts back on with the tire iron. Lower your car using the jack.

Step 8: Test Your Brakes

Before driving your car on public roads, make sure to test your brakes. Drive slowly and press the brake pedal to make sure everything feels normal.

Remember, safety should always be a priority when performing maintenance on your vehicle. If you're unsure of anything, we highly recommend taking your car to a professional mechanic instead.
